Achieving our best by learning together and serving one another.

Welcome

Phonics

This week we are learning about three graphemes that have a lot in common.  They are:

ew

ue

u-e

Each of these graphemes can make two sounds depending on the word they are in, they can sound like /oo/ or like /yoo/

Examples:

ew sounds like /oo/ = chew

ew sounds like /yoo/ = new

ue sounds like /oo/ = clue

ue sounds like /yoo/ = argue

u-e sounds like /oo/ = prune

u-e sounds like /yoo/ = tube
