Year 2 Victorian Day More events...
  • Year 2 Victorian DayFreshwater Theatre Company will come into school to visit the Year 2 classes for the morning. The Freshwater Theatre Company will visit to transport your children back to 1899 to experience firsthand what a day at a Victorian ‘Board School’ might have been like. Led by our Victorian Schoolteacher, your child will receive an interactive session allowing them to immerse themselves in the role of Victorian School children. This will involve them participating in a handwriting and an arithmetic ‘assessment’ and they will then try to impress with their knowledge in an ‘object lesson’ before being put through their paces in ‘drill’! This experience will likely give them a newfound appreciation for their modern-day classroom and make them grateful to not have to follow the Victorian school rule of ‘Speech is silver, silence is golden’ or be subject to one of the infamous Victorian punishments!! This will be a fun and enriching morning supporting our history topic – ‘How was school different in the past?’ - this term and will give the children a chance to have a hands-on-learning experience.
