A message from your teachers

Dear Year 6,

We hope you are all doing well and keeping safe. We miss you all very much, but feel happy knowing that you are all staying safe. We know this isn't exactly how we all thought your last year at Primary School would be, but you are part of a huge piece of history - where the whole country came together.

We are so very proud of how grown up and responsible you have all been during not only this strange time, but also your time in Year 6 so far. You all showed great determination in how hard you worked when preparing for the SATs, and although we don't have the SATs tests this year, it is still important to remember that your education plays a special role in helping you achieve your goals and ambitions - so keep working hard!

We hope you have been able to make lots of happy memories during this strange time and look forward to helping you make some more when we return to school. You probably won't believe it, but we actually miss your many, many questions throughout the day!

Keep smiling, keep up the good work and keep making your families, teachers and (most of all) yourselves proud! You are all amazing and we can't wait to see you all again.

Take care,

Mrs Grigg, Mr Stewart and Mrs Rycroft

Reading is a key skill needed for all learning, however it also offers escapism, develops imagination and gives us a huge amount of pleasure, which is especially important at this time. Please encourage your child to continue to read and read with them and to them. This gives an important calm time where children can feel comforted and comfortable to talk openly.

Surrey Libraries

Surrey libraries are still running their free eBook service. Please see below for links.
Years 2-4 were reading books for the Surrey Reading Book Award. Surrey libraries have managed to obtain three of the titles as eBook versions (though these are limited in number):
  • Hotel Flamingo by Alex Milway
  • Night of the Living Ted by Barry Hutchison
  • The Boy who Lived with Dragons by Andy Shepherd
Copies of the titles can be read though the eBook provider and if pupils are not library members, it is even easier for children to join as they don't currently need an adult guarantor to get a library card.
